Job Description Summary

The Health and Wellness Coordinator will coordinate health and wellness initiatives and programs for employees and retirees. The position will support the efforts of the Benefits and Wellness Manager in implementing programs that create awareness and access to wellness programs within Michigan Tech and in the community. The Health and Wellness Coordinator will work to coordinate, develop and provide identified trainings within the university.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Manage the Husky Health Program under the direction of the Manager of Benefits & Wellness
2. Coordinate and promote health and wellness initiatives and programs for employees
3. Coordinate wellness presentations, lunch and learns, and other community outreach functions.
4. Coordinate Husky Health options, including, but not limited to Wondr Health, BCBS challenges, Diabetes Prevention programs, Weight Watchers, Maintain Don’t Gain, Lunch and Learns and personal training with Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology (KIP) program.
5. Maintain active promotion and updates of wellness programs to campus community through varied media, such as but not limited to, weekly Wellness Newsletter, Tech Today articles, presentations and forums.
6. Provides a wide variety of both complex and routine administrative services for the department and the University.
7. Preserves the confidentiality, security, and integrity of personal employee information.
8. Participates in and contributes to the review, development, and improvements for more efficient and effective HR benefit processes.
9. Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers in order to meet high quality standards for service.
10. Manage and attend benefit events and student orientations and make presentations when necessary.
11. Manage and oversee the Michigan Tech student insurance programs.
12. Coordinate and develops HR training programs, workshops, and communications as needed.
13. Organize and develop training course guides and materials such as handouts and visual materials.
14. Develop and deliver professional presentations and training to campus groups, large or small, using appropriate media, including PowerPoint, spreadsheets, and other methods to enhance effective communications.
15. Identify administrative needs that occur on a routine basis.
16. Preparee a special and periodic reports for review by management.
17. Other duties as assigned
18. Commits to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
19. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

• 3 years of proven high-quality customer service experience.
• Demonstrated experience facilitating and coordinating presentations, events and community outreach programs.
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency using personal computers and advanced Microsoft Office applications, including word processing, spreadsheets/databases, and presentation packages.
• Demonstrated experience presenting to large and small groups of a variety of topics.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

• Experience working in higher education
• Experience coordinating health and wellness programs
• Experience using Banner

Required Training and Other Conditions of Employment

Every employee at Michigan Technological University will receive the following 4 required trainings; additional training may be required by the department.
