This is a 12-month full time appointment, reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director - Media Relations. The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, working within the external relations team, primary responsibility is to publicize Michigan Tech Athletics and Recreation and assigned sports. The transdisciplinary Institute for Policy, Ethics, and Culture (IPEC)is seeking a highly motivated, transdisciplinarily oriented ethicist interested in conducting cutting-edge research in applied ethics. Individuals will be developing an externally supported research portfolio, collaborating with Michigan Tech faculty on transdisciplinary research projects, and working with graduate students in the new Ph.D. program in Policy, Ethics, and Culture. This position requires as a self-directed research program as well as collaboration with faculty in the university to contribute an ethics component to research. A successful candidate will have a solid background in ethics and an area of application, such as environmental ethics, ethics in artificial intelligence, or engineering ethics. An ideal candidate would have an established track record in obtaining research funding in applied ethics.

MTRI ( is seeking a highly motivated, intellectually curious professional interested in conducting cutting-edge research in applying information theory and remote sensing techniques to hydrologic modeling and water resources engineering. Individuals will be developing an externally supported research portfolio while supporting multiple projects for government and commercial customers. This position requires collaboration with senior engineers and scientists to research, design, and evaluate algorithms for various signal- and image-processing applications in the natural and built environment. A successful candidate will have a solid background in natural sciences, applied mathematics, and image processing. In addition, an ideal candidate would have prior experience writing scientific software and experience applying such tools to measured data.
Assistant Research Scientist - Environmental Analyst Michigan Tech Research Institute (Ann Arbor, MI)
The Assistant Research Scientist – Environmental Analyst will work to support and build of a variety of scientific and research programs focused on the development and applications of remote sensing and geospatial analysis to solve governmental and societal needs through sponsored research. Knowledge of ocean color remote sensing analysis as well as training in aquatic field data collection is required. A strong background in science and application of statistical tools to analyze complex geospatial data is desired. The applicant will be expected to support geospatial research projects with remote sensing as a major component, and to apply their knowledge of aquatic ecology and oceanography to research projects. The ability to process and analyze remote sensing data through custom coding (Python, R, MATLAB) and analysis will be important.
