Administrative Aide 8 Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Administrative Aide serves as the department manager and is responsible for the operational functions of the Center for Pre-College Outreach, including the delivery of exemplary customer service, budget management, and logistical support. The Administrative Aide works as part of a team to fulfill the diverse needs of both the department and the students, families, staff, and other stakeholders that it serves. In accordance with the university's outreach goals and objectives, the Administrative Aide advises families regarding the summer program enrollment process, engages established and prospective donors regarding sponsorship and gift-giving, seeks and supports external funding opportunities, assists in the coordination of event logistics, and leads departmental hiring and training of new employees, among other duties. The Administrative Aide must have excellent customer service and computer skills, approach work processes methodically, exhibit extreme attention to detail, and function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Director Applied Chemical and Morphological Analysis Laboratory Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Michigan Tech seeks a director of its Applied Chemical and Morphological Analysis Laboratory (ACMAL). ACMAL is an interdisciplinary, university shared user facility that manages a suite of high-end structural characterization facilities including SEM (3 units), STEM (FEI Titan Themis), FIB, XES, AFM, XRD, XRF, and associated sample preparation facilities. The director manages the access and operational procedures, coordinates maintenance, oversees the personnel needs of the facility, interfaces with the campus-wide user community, coordinates user training, and leads or participates in efforts to expand capabilities and use. The Director will have a staff appointment in the Materials Science and Engineering Department, who manages the facility in behalf of the university. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the operation of electron-based imaging and analytical techniques in a research environment, be familiar with shared user-oriented facility model, demonstrated managerial skills, and a positive attitude compatible with providing efficient and high quality service to the university research community. A degree in the physical sciences, or engineering, or applied technology discipline is preferred.

Working closely with diverse internal and external constituents, the Coordinator works to create engaging, collaborative, inclusive, and effective programs that further the mission and outreach goals of the University.
Assistant Director, Research Development Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Assistant Director, Research Development will support researchers of Michigan Tech's Institute of Computing and Cybersystems (ICC) as they collectively work to create and implement activities aimed at the growth and development of ICC-affiliated research and graduate programs. By collaborating with, coaching/mentoring, and supporting the work of researchers at all levels, this individual will be integral to the business development and outreach of the ICC. The successful candidate will provide pre- and post-award support to institute members, assist with the financial processes for the institute, and help to lead the daily administrative functions of the institute.
Facility Operations Engineer Keweenaw Research Center (Near Houghton County Airport)
The Facilities Engineer/Research Engineer ensures the operation of the Keweenaw Research Center flows smoothly, both day-to-day and into the future to meet the needs of KRC staff, customers, Michigan Technological University and the public. The Engineer serves as an operations manager for the Keweenaw Research Center Facility (13 buildings), to enable the KRC to fulfill and accomplish its goals in accordance with the University’s strategic plan. The Engineer insures the facility provides a safe and comfortable environment to conduct a variety of activities by a variety of users. The Engineer: oversees all maintenance, upgrades and new construction; manages all the utility services (gas, electric, sewer and water); advises and make recommendations to the Director of the KRC on all aspects of construction, engineering, architecture, construction costs, construction safety, and code compliance. In addition, the engineer will assist the director and/or project managers as needed for the coordination, planning and execution of tasks related to engineering projects.
Research Scientist II - Infrared Remote Sensing Specialist Michigan Tech Research Institute (Ann Arbor, MI)
The Research Scientist II – Infrared Remote Sensing Specialist position provides leadership and support for MTRI programs focused on the development and application of remote sensing and geospatial analysis to solve governmental and societal needs through sponsored research. Knowledge of remote sensing theory, in particular infrared sensing (IR), and application for environmental science or transportation research is required. The applicant will be expected to develop, select, and lead remote sensing research projects that apply their knowledge of IR sensing. The ability to improve the processing and analysis of IR remote sensing data through custom coding and analysis will be important. Examples of current research areas include wildland and prescribed fire mapping and effects assessment, Great Lakes aquatic sensing, invasive species mapping, wetlands assessment, transportation infrastructure assessment, wildland fire danger and emissions mapping, cloud-based and distributed computing, user-friendly app development, improved geotemporal visualization of complex data and patterns, extending UAV-enabling sensing, and Arctic landscape change. The position is based at MTRI in Ann Arbor, MI (www.mtri.org).
