Job Description Summary

The Admissions Manager will be part of a robust, growing, and fast paced admissions team and will focus on capitalizing on several key markets for Michigan Tech including international students and students from the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin. This position will be deeply involved in all aspects of our admissions activity including recruiting, leveraging our CRM system, and application processing. This individual will also be a key part of our daily visit team and will maintain our virtual recruiting activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. In addition to serving as an integral part of our domestic application processing team, lead and manage the processing of our international applicants through detail oriented, creative problem solving.
2. Liaise with our International Programs office and financial aid to ensure our incoming international students have the necessary documents to enter the USA, and contribute, as needed, to a seamless transition for those students.
3. Create efficiencies and opportunities for automation and improvement with international application processing.
4. Manage a recruitment territory in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Northern Wisconsin, including traveling to college fairs and high schools and communicating with prospective students and their families to increase enrollment.
5. Serve as a key member of our daily visit team and contribute greatly to a world-class campus visit experience.
6. Manage our virtual event series including lining up speakers, scheduling, managing the event in our CRM system, assisting with the communication, and ensuring a well-run, useful, and successful event for our prospective students and their families.
7. Commit to continuously improving and thinking of outside-the-box solutions that would improve our admissions process.
8. Take an active role in staying current with Michigan Tech news, events, facts, figures, degree programs, and related institutional information.
9. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
10. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

● Bachelor’s degree

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

● Experience giving presentations to groups of up to 100 people.
● 1-2 years of customer service experience.
● Experience working in a position that requires attention to detail.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

● Experience in undergraduate admissions, higher education student services, customer service or closely related area
● Experience working with international students.

● Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends.
● Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to comply with Michigan Tech’s vehicle use requirements.
● Ability to use judgment when dealing with confidential information.
● Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
● Demonstrated commitment to contribute to a safe work environment.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

● Knowledge of Michigan Tech
● Demonstrated knowledge of secondary school systems.
● Demonstrated ability to protect student data with integrity.
