Summary

The Associate Dean for Graduate Education (ADG) in the College of Sciences and Arts (CSA) is a key member of the college leadership team and reports directly to the Dean. The ADG is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the quality and effectiveness of all graduate programs in the college, including on-campus and online master's, doctoral, and graduate certificate programs. The Associate Dean works with the Dean, Chairs, Faculty, Graduate School, and Global Campus to develop and implement new initiatives to grow graduate enrollment, increase graduate student professional development and success, and establish new graduate degree programs in CSA. Responsibilities and Essential Duties

● Coordinate and support the recruitment, admission, retention, success, and graduation of a diverse and high-quality graduate student body.
● Work closely with the Graduate School and the CSA Graduate Program Directors to help develop and implement college-wide policies, practices and efforts to enhance all aspects of the graduate student lifecycle within the college.
● Develop, implement, and monitor progress on graduate program policies, data, outcomes and quality indicators in the college, in alignment with the Graduate School and University’s missions and strategic plans.
● Mentor graduate programs in the graduate program review process.
● Develop programming and infrastructure with the Graduate Program Directors to build community among the College’s graduate students that fosters a feeling of belonging and resilience.
● Review and resolve curricular and programmatic issues across graduate programs.
● Develop and manage college-wide resources for graduate programs, including scholarships, fellowships, assistantships, and grants.
● Work with programs and departments to develop and submit grant proposals to support graduate education.
● Promote and facilitate interdisciplinary graduate education programs across departments and colleges.
● Work with Global Campus and the Graduate School to develop and implement timely, relevant new graduate credentials.
● Enhance the visibility and reputation of the college's graduate programs locally, nationally, and internationally.
● Establish and maintain partnerships with industry, alumni, and other stakeholders to support graduate student education and professional development, including ethics and academic conduct.
● Support faculty and staff on existing and new cross-disciplinary graduate-level courses and projects in the college and across the university.
● Represent the college in university-wide committees and councils related to graduate education.
● Regularly communicate with departmental chairs and directors of graduate programs to ensure consistent, high-quality graduate programs and processes throughout the college.

 

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

● An earned doctorate in a discipline represented in the College or a related field from an accredited institution.
● A rank of full professor with tenure within CSA.

Required Experience

● A record of distinguished teaching, research, and service in the College of Sciences and Arts consistent with a rank of professor or equivalent in disciplines within the college or a related field.
● Established record of advising Ph.D. students to completion in a timely manner.
● Professional job-related experience in (or demonstrated ability for) fostering and promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment for all.
● Experience with planning, projections and oversight of budgets, including as an administrator or as a Principal Investigator of grant awards.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

● Demonstrated experience with partnership agreements.
● Demonstrated experience with online graduate education and online course delivery.
● Experience identifying students of concern and developing interventions to promote their success.
● Demonstrated experience administering (or interest in expanding experience to) budgets in the range of $3-5M per year.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

● A record of successful leadership, supervision and/or administration of graduate education or a related area.
● A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
● A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and external partners.

The chosen candidate will remain in a 9 month faculty position where academic/release time and summer compensation being utilized for this position.
