Job Description Summary

Michigan Technological University, a nationally recognized leader in science and engineering education and research, invites applicants for an Assistant Teaching Professor position in the Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology. Applicants in all fields of Kinesiology will be considered with preference given to candidates who can contribute to our undergraduate and graduate curriculum. This is a non-tenure track, 9-month position. The expected start date is August 14, 2023.

Candidates must have an M.S. degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sports and Fitness Management, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Our next colleague will be expected to deliver existing courses, develop new courses that keep pace with changes in the discipline, assist with coursework M.S. degree advising and internship coordination, and contribute to outreach to promote the department and its programs both on campus and within the community. Candidates will engage in departmental, college, and university service; depending upon candidate expertise.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

• Teach courses relevant to Kinesiology, Exercise Science, and Sports and Fitness Management
• Assist with course-work M.S. degree advising and internship coordination
• Contribute to departmental outreach and service

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

Earned Master's Degree (M.S., M.A.) related to Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sports and Fitness Management, or a closely related field

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

 

Desirable Education and/or Experience

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D., DPT, etc.) related to Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sports, and Fitness Management, or a closely related field.
• Direct experience with college teaching
• Professional certification (e.g. ACSM, NSCA)
• Clinical or professional experience in a related field

The Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology is home to approximately 100 undergraduate and graduate students. We offer two baccalaureate degrees (B.S., Exercise Science; B.S., Sports and Fitness Management), an M.S. in Kinesiology, and a Ph.D. in Integrative Physiology.
