Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) Establish a robust research program, as evidenced by a strong publication record and securing external funding. Advise graduate students. Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate classes, and assist with curricular/program assessment, evaluation, and development.Participate in service activities at the department, college, and University level, as well as the appropriate professional organizations and societies. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements) Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or closely related disciplines. Required Experience (minimum requirements) Successful applicants must: Have a record of scholarship in the Computer Science area, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence/machine learning, systems, and software engineering or closely related areas. Be able to teach a variety of courses in a computing-related curriculum. Desirable Education and/or Experience Experience teaching in an institution of higher education.Demonstrated skills required to design a course at the university level.Skills/experience in proposal writing or development of externally funded grants.Demonstrated familiarity with financial/funding resources and opportunities utilized by U.S. academic institutions. Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements) Successful applicants must have: Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills as well as demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.Ability to teach effectively at the graduate and undergraduate level.Experience or demonstrated interest in conducting research with students (graduate and/or undergraduate). Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Ability to conduct collaborative research across disciplines.Versatility and experience to teach foundational as well as advanced computing courses to diverse students.Experience with research proposal writing. Additional Information The Department of Computer Science is housed in the College of Computing, which is the only academic college in Michigan focused on computing and is currently experiencing significant growth–enrollments have doubled over the last eight years. The college has 37 full-time faculty members, 812 undergraduate students in six bachelor’s degree programs (Computer Science, Computer Network and System Administration, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, and Software Engineering), and 147 graduate students in four master’s degree programs (Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Health Informatics, and Mechatronics) and 36 students in two Ph.D. programs (Computer Science and Computational Science and Engineering).The CS department has 25 full-time faculty members, 669 undergraduate students in three bachelor’s degree programs (Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering), 72 graduate students in three master’s degree programs (Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science), and 29 students in one Ph.D. program (Computer Science).
