Grants & Contracts Analyst Apply now Job No: 25156 Department: Sponsored Programs Office Work Type: Staff - Full Time Location: Remote, Lakeshore Center (Houghton, MI) Full Time / Part Time: Full Time Categories: Advising/Counseling, Research, Accounting Department: Sponsored Programs Office Summary The Grants & Contracts Analyst is responsible for the negotiation of contracts and agreements with companies, non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, and universities and provides support to departments, faculty, and staff for award and agreement processing. Responsibilities and Essential Duties 1. Negotiate contracts and agreements that provide funding and other forms of support for University research, education, service, and outreach activities.2. Independently negotiate disputed contractual terms and conditions to reach mutually acceptable conclusions.3. Identify risks and liabilities and minimize the impact on the University when negotiating contracts, ensuring that the terms and conditions comply with university policies, federal and state laws, and sponsor guidelines.4. Serve as liaison between departments and other entities including companies, governmental agencies, non-profit entities, and universities.5. Ensure University compliance with conflicts of interest, export control, and IRB/IACUC policies relating to award processing.6. Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of new policies and procedures and agreement standards.7. Participate in special projects and other assigned duties to further department goals.8. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.9. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities have been acquired Required Experience • 2 years of experience processing proposals and/or awards with governmental agencies, non-profit organizations and/or companies• Knowledge of federal and state guidelines for grant and contract administration• Experience composing and/or negotiating contract and agreement terms and conditions• Experience using personal computers and basic software packages including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software Desirable Education and/or Experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and oral/written communication skills• Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills• Demonstrated ability to meet and manage deadlines• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate with faculty, students, and staff• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under conditions with frequent and multiple interruptions• Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail• Demonstrated ability to use judgment when dealing with confidential information• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.• Demonstrated commitment to contribute to a safe work environment.
