Job Description Summary Michigan Technological University invites applications for a faculty position in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the assistant, associate, or full professor level. All areas of chemical engineering are of interest, including but not limited to biotechnology, energy & sustainability, mineral/particulate processing, chemical process safety, electrochemical processing, modeling (molecular simulation, systems, etc.), advanced separations, process intensification & design, continuous processing, advanced materials, and process automation & control. Integrate safety practices into daily activities and commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements) Ph.D. in chemical engineering or closely related discipline. Required Experience (minimum requirements) Demonstrated excellence in the training of graduate students in research.Demonstrated record of securing external research funding. Desirable Education and/or Experience Nationally recognized leader at the cutting edge in a chosen research field.Ability to lead a team of researchers to develop large-scale proposals and establish a center of excellence. Additional Information The Department of Chemical Engineering currently has 15 faculty members, ~400 undergraduate students, and 35 graduate students. Externally-funded research has more than doubled in the past five years, and the Department is on a trajectory to double its graduate enrollment over the next five years. In March 2018, the undergraduate program was ranked 9th in the nation by College Factual, making it the highest-ranked program in the State of Michigan. The Department's Unit Operations Laboratory is one of the best in the nation, with two pilot-plant set-ups, numerous bench-scale processes, and a state-of-the-art process simulation and control facility.
