Job Description Summary

Provide guidance and administration of department research initiatives/ development and online graduate programs; by providing faculty and research centers with pre- and post- award support, oversight of administrative functions of both programs, along with communication and promotion of broader impact activities of the department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Coordinate with the Director of Research and the Director of Graduate Programs to identify and engage strategic partners, alliances, key external stakeholders, faculty, staff, and graduate students to position the department as a leader in research and graduate online education.
2. Lead successful proposal preparation and submission activities and provide proposal preparation direction and assistance. Development of budgets and coordination of pre-award document submission. Guidance of interpreting RFP requirements, and expertise in, EERE ExChange, and NSF Fastlane.
3. Serve as a liaison with project sponsors and be a point-of-contact with outside funding agencies (Federal, State and local), the Sponsored Programs and Sponsored Accounting offices, the principal investigators and other project partners.
4. Provide project management activities for large research initiatives, such as analyze expenditures, prepare financial reports, process internal requests for budget modifications, cost shares, cost transfers, subcontract activities and financial closeout. Monitor required reporting deadlines and assist with dissemination of results in a timely manner.
5. Guidance and administrative support to the department research centers which includes, developing budgets and proposal submission, monitoring center budgets and indexes for a multitude of accounts in a variety of departments, prepare financial reports, tracking center proposals and awards, tracking expenditures and IRAD, center publications, and website updates.
6. Annual report compilation of research awards, faculty publications and patents, and department achievement metrics.
7. Publicize department accomplishments and undertakings; including preparing annual reporting and communication plans for both research and gradate online programs and other related activities (working with other units and partners). This includes concepts and materials (websites, brochures, newsletters, presentations, etc.) for internal and external audiences.
8. Prepare and maintain up-to-date facilities and photo database for the inclusion of information in proposals and promotional materials.
9. Investigate funding opportunities and engage the appropriate faculty of the open solicitations, which may include market intelligence, data mining, and benchmarking.
10. Coordination of graduate online programs; promotion of programs, monitoring enrollments and enrollment trends, verify and monitor degree and program requirements and changes, university senate proposals for new programs, and advising students.
11. Supervisory responsibilities over students. 

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

Bachelor of Science degree in business, science, engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities have been acquired.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

● Three - five years’ experience in program/ project management
● Experience in proposal development for submission to federal agencies, corporations, foundations and other sponsors.
● Experience working with research grants and contracts.
● Experience with business operations.
● Experience managing budgets, financial data and accounting systems.
● Experience using personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite and other basic software packages.
● Experience using advanced features of word processing and presentation software.
● Experience in graphic design, desktop publishing and related software packages.
● Experience using advanced features of spreadsheet/ database software such as creating macros/ charts and utilizing formulas.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

● Master’s degree
● Five plus years’ experience in program/ project management.
● Experience using Banner/ Oracle data systems.
● Experience working in an academic setting.
● Experience leading marketing/ outreach activities.
● Experience in public speaking.
● Experience leading meetings.

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands

The work environment is that of a typical office and/ or classroom setting.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
