The College of Engineering invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Associate Dean for Research to begin entering the position approximately Nov. 15, 2022, and fully assuming the position in spring semester, 2023. The Associate Dean for Research works with the Dean and other members of the College to further the research and innovation mission of the College. They are a member of the leadership team of the college, the Engineering Council (EC), and serve as a representative of the college in areas of research and innovation to our external constituents as well as within Michigan Tech. Director, CLC & Undergraduate Student Advisor Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Director of the Chemistry Learning Center is responsible for recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training and supervising a diverse staff of undergraduate coaches (tutors) and Supplemental instruction Leaders for the purpose of increased retention and success of students in the first- and second-year chemistry courses at the University, particularly in transitioning from high school to college. Additionally, this position assists with various administrative aspects relating to large lectures as well as being the primary academic advisor for undergraduate students in the Department of Chemistry
Assistant Research Engineer Keweenaw Research Center (Near Houghton County Airport)
Support the execution of tasks related to engineering projects. Project tasks include, but aren’t limited to, development, fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting, repair, and evaluation of ground vehicle electronics and related subsystems.
Housing Operations Coordinator Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Housing Operations Coordinator is a 12-month, full time position responsible for coordinating multiple logistical operations for the department, ensuring an efficient housing operation that maximizes satisfaction for students. Responsibilities include direct management and oversight of the comprehensive front desk system in the university’s residence halls, ensuring the students are provided an exceptional customer service experience and that the facility is presenting an image consistent with the university. This position will assist with similar projects including the management of the Quad Core Fitness Centers in the halls, supervision of the Operations Assistants who provide facility support, and assist with summer conference planning. Additionally, they will partner with the Assistant Director of Housing to coordinate an off campus transition program for undergraduate resident students that helps prepare them for success in off campus living and provides them resources to listings to successfully find housing. Close proximity to campus is important to provide after hours support to operational functions as needed. Staff is provided a 1 bedroom on campus apartment at no cost and a meal plan. Staff may negotiate to reside off campus provided they are able to provide a response plan for after hours support.

They will be responsible for leading continuous improvement efforts to ensure best-in-class service and financial performance and growth. This position will also assist the Director of Budget and Financial Planning in financial analysis of other University operations and assigned projects. The position will report to the Director of Budget and Financial Planning.
Assistant Director for Career Services and Employer Relations Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Assistant Director for Career Services and Employer Relations reports to the Director. With the support of the office team and guided by our vision for students and desired student learning and return-on-investment outcomes, the Assistant Director designs, teaches, evaluates, and advises students on career readiness and professional development learning opportunities, services, courses, and high impact practices from conception to evaluation with an emphasis on student success from enrollment to post-graduation. Services and advice focus on securing and maintaining gainful employment, career success, and longevity in the workforce. Although the Assistant Director may serve all students, the primary target will be graduate and international students, alumni/ae, recruiters, and employers. Services need to be delivered through individual, group, virtual, and classroom formats as appropriate. The Assistant Director is also responsible for developing, increasing, and maintaining a robust roster of employers interested in recruiting Michigan Tech students. The Great Lakes Research Center (GLRC) at Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) promotes collaborative, multidisciplinary research across the College of Computing, the College of Engineering, the College of Sciences and Arts, the College of Business, and the College of Forest Resources and Environmental Sciences. The GLRC supports research development and implementation for more than 100 affiliated faculty and researchers and serves as a non-academic department for research administration and technical staff, and a growing team of research scientists. The Institute is seeking to hire a research scientist in coupled regional climate and hydrodynamic modeling to: 1) support an existing portfolio of research, 2) seek and secure their own externally funded research, 3) contribute to others’ research portfolios, and 4) provide on-campus and external outreach to help foster Institute growth. The GLRC is looking for an individual with the knowledge and skills to join its growing team of research scientists. This position is 80% soft funded and 20% department funded. During the first year of employment the hired individual will be expected to assist with existing funded research for a variety of federal and international agencies. Annual contract renewal is contingent upon securing additional project funding.
