Job Description Summary Michigan Technological University Department of Computer Science (CS) invites applications for an instructional track faculty position at the assistant teaching professor level. Applicants with the required education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and accomplishments commensurate with a higher rank will also be considered for an appointment at the rank of associate teaching professor, teaching professor, or professor of practice. The successful candidate should be able to teach data science and machine learning courses beginning August 2024 (or as early as January 2024). The candidate may be expected to teach some other courses across CS curriculum as well. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) 1. Teaching, a typical load is three courses per semester. A. Teaching core data science and machine learning courses B. Teaching introductory data science sequence courses C. Teaching CS curriculum as needed.2. Assist in curriculum assessment and development.3. Contribute to departmental service needs through departmental committees or other service responsibilities.4. Integrate safety practices into daily activities and apply continuous improvement strategies to everyday work. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements) The applicant must have earned an MS degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Informatics, or a closely related area. Required Experience (minimum requirements) Teaching or training experience in academia or industry.
