Assistant Teaching Professor, Mathematical Sciences Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position beginning August 2026. This is a renewable, non-tenure-track 9-month faculty position with opportunities for career advancement. This role is focused on teaching foundational undergraduate courses in mathematics, including College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I and II, and Linear Algebra. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting student success, retention, and diversity within the department’s strategic initiatives. Michigan Tech is committed to fostering a welcoming, innovative, and rigorous educational environment. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester, actively engaging with students inside and outside the classroom, developing and updating curricula, mentoring students, and coordinating multi-section courses. The department has a target Calculus I maximum class size of 45. There is potential to teach upper-level courses and advise undergraduate research projects based on experience and interest. Candidates with sufficient qualifications and experience may also be considered for an Associate Teaching Professor appointment.
Instructional Lab Specialist Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
At Michigan Technological University, the Chemistry Instructional Lab Specialist manages and oversees undergraduate chemistry laboratory (UCL) courses and the department’s summer youth program (SYP). The Coordinator is responsible for organizing and developing course content, supervising and training teaching assistants, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of instructional laboratories and SYP. Responsibilities include developing and preparing instructional materials, maintaining equipment and supplies, coordinating instruction activities, assessing student learning outcomes, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Assistant Professor of Sound Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
