Job Description Summary

As a member of the Information Systems and Services Team within Information Technology, the Business Systems Analyst is responsible for information, data, data visualization and data governance. Primary responsibilities include supporting business processes, documenting procedures, loading data, sending bulk email communications, writing reports and processing access requests. You will become part of a culture that empowers employees, treats them with respect, and encourages innovation and open communication.

As a member of the Information Systems and Services Team within Information Technology, you will be joining an organization of over 70 IT professionals. Our team partners with the University's administrative units to provide data analysis, ad hoc reporting, and data visualization while facilitating and implementing new business processes. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

● Review questions/issues with supported software and determine if the software is working as intended. Follow-up with the vendor and campus partners as needed
● Create and execute queries/reports using the campus software reporting tools. Including but not limited to WebFOCUS and SQL Developer
● Prepare and execute test plans to ensure desired results are achieved
● Develop and maintain training and documentation for supported software and associated business processes as needed
● Analyze business processes, define and document business process requirements and assist with implementation of business process initiatives
● Review/understand university processes/procedures and make recommendations for improvements
● Maintain university data dictionary
● Process access requests for Banner and related systems
● Process data loads
● Generate bulk email communications
● Prioritize work inline with institutional expectations
● Work independently and as part of a team
● Other duties as assigned
● Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work
● Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

● Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, management information systems or technically related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

● One year of experience using a query based reporting tool (e.g. Webfocus or Tableau)
● One year of experience writing SQL queries
● Demonstrated understanding of relational databases and standard query languages
● Understanding of enterprise level computer systems (e.g. Banner, PeopleSoft, SalesForce)

Desirable Education and/or Experience

● One year of experience with emphasis on business systems or process analysis
● Experience using Banner software
● Experience in a higher education environment
● Experience using WebFOCUS
● Experience with data governance

● Demonstrated ability to learn new software
● Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff
● Integrate safety practices into daily activities
● Ability to learn all federal, state, and institutional requirements and laws impacting the delivery of services and systems

● Experience working on projects in a project management environment
