Job Description Summary

The Head Women’s Soccer Coach will oversee the direction of the Varsity Soccer Program at the NCAA Division II level. Duties of the position include areas such as recruitment, scheduling, practice/game preparation, budget management, fund raising and promotion. The coach works in a collaborative fashion with the Athletic Department and serves in a leadership role to enhance the internal and external visibility and recognition of the Michigan Tech Women’s Soccer Program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

• Plan, organize and administer the university's varsity women’s soccer program
• Direct the recruitment of soccer student-athletes on a national basis
• Develop and implement soccer practice sessions, coordinating soccer staff to determine needs for individual and team improvement
• Evaluate Michigan Tech and opposing team capabilities to determine game strategy and manage/prepare team for competition
• Enhance and promote the internal and external visibility and recognition of the University and team to a variety of alumni, campus and off-campus groups
• Actively participate in fund raising and alumni activities
• Provide necessary resources to monitor and promote the academic success of student-athletes
• Plan, develop and administer budgets
• Represent and act on behalf of the University as directed by the VP for Athletics and Recreation
• Teach activity classes in the Department of KIP
• Supervisory Responsibilities: Administrative supervision is exercised over graduate student assistants.
• Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

● Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

● Experience playing and/or coaching soccer at the collegiate level
● Recent Midwest collegiate and (or) club soccer experience (Within last 3 years) GLIAC, GLVC, GMAC, NSIC,
● Soccer recruiting experience, specifically within Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, and Ohio.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

● Master's Degree
● Experience using personal computers and basic software packages such as google docs.
● Head coaching experience
● 3 years experience coaching at the NCAA DI, DII, DIII or NAIA level
● US Soccer C License or higher (or equivalent licensure with NSCAA and UEFA)
● Familiarity with Midwest collegiate and club soccer. Especially in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota.
● Experience planning, developing, and administering budgets
● Experience with fundraising, camps and clinics

● Superior written and oral communication and public relations skills
● Demonstrated commitment, knowledge and experience with the recruiting process
● Experience with film editing, office software and soccer specific video analysis software
● Excellent professional, interpersonal, communication and organization skills
● Demonstrated commitment to academic achievement
