Job Description Summary The Research Integrity and Development Coordinator for the Associate Vice President Research Development (AVPRD) department specializes in staff support to a department which serves the entire Michigan Technological University research community, including research centers, shared facilities, and individual researchers across a wide variety of research areas.This position assists AVPRD leadership with promoting research policy compliance, proposal development, and continuing education provision regarding evolving research policies and procedures. The role requires attention to detail, efficient organizational skills, a high level of integrity, discretion in handling confidential information, and the ability to quickly and independently focus on developing priorities as needed. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) Oversight and understanding of research integrity and development departmental databases, including providing general functional and technical support to the AVPRD team and MTU campus community. Support IRB, IBC, and IACUC regulatory committee processes and assist with workflow coordination including verification, monitoring, and processing regulatory committee applications. Coordination of campus-wide events sponsored by the department. Generate and process inter-departmental paperwork including check requests, inter-account bills, EPAF/payroll coordination, and the processing of purchase requisitions and blanket orders. Monitor, review, and provide financial reports to AVPRD monthly and upon request. Manage graduate student progress related to Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) completions and degree completion. Schedule and manage research laboratory inspections. Provide support for Animal Care Facility (ACF) and University Chemical Stores (UCS) processes. Provide general administrative support to the entire AVPRD including, but not limited to; meeting management and coordination, oversight of common drives and documentation, assist with travel arrangements, order and maintain supplies. Attend training to develop proficiency with Cayuse, Banner, WebFocus, Perceptive Content, Concur, and other software systems utilized by the University. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to every-day work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills and practices to everyday work. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements) ● Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired. Required Experience (minimum requirements) ● Minimum 3 years’ administrative experience working in an academic environment or other complex organization.● Successful, progressively responsible office experience.● Demonstrated ability to learn new software and processes quickly, and to apply such knowledge to daily and ongoing work. Desirable Education and/or Experience ● Experience supporting faculty and / or researchers.
