Job Description Summary

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) invites applications and nominations for a faculty position at the instructional track, assistant teaching professor level. Michigan Tech BME is searching for outstanding candidates who can add to the existing teaching strengths in multiple teaching and research areas.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

Teach undergraduate core courses in experimental laboratory techniques, biomaterials, and/or biomechanics, or other BME core courses, as well as help supervise senior design projects

Teach graduate level courses in area of expertise. Must be willing and able to contribute to Department, University, and external professional service activities.

Integrate safety practices into daily activities and commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

Earned doctorate in biomedical engineering or a closely related field.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

Teaching experience in experimental laboratory techniques, biomaterials, and/or biomechanics, or other BME core courses.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

We desire applicants with face-to-face and online teaching experience, teaching experience at the graduate level in their area of expertise, and an interest and ability to conduct research.

Teaching at the graduate level in the applicant's area of expertise.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)

Broad knowledge of the field of Biomedical Engineering

Excellent written/oral communication skills

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

An interest and ability to conduct research.

Demonstrated success in, or potential future contributions to, working with persons from diverse backgrounds, creating a sense of belonging, and fostering a fair, objective, welcoming place to work for persons with a wide variety of personal characteristics and viewpoints.

Language, Mathematics and/or Reasoning Skills

 

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands

The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Required Training and Other Conditions of Employment

Every employee at Michigan Technological University will receive the following 4 required trainings; additional training may be required by the department.
