Job Description Summary

Assume responsibility for the employee wellness programs and all related wellness activities. Coordinate processes and procedures for student health insurance; coordinate, processes and procedures for employee education program and dependent education program; support Senior Benefits Coordinator with creating, maintaining, processing, updating, and monitoring the employees’ benefit eligibility records in the BANNER system and for the insurance administrators.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Coordinate and promote health and wellness initiatives and programs for employees
2. Coordinate wellness presentations, lunch and learns, and other community outreach functions
3. Coordinate Husky Health options, including, but not limited to, Naturally Slim, BCBS challenges, Diabetes Prevention programs, Weight Watchers, Maintain Don’t Gain, Lunch and Learns and personal training with Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology (KIP) program.
4. Maintain active promotion and updates of wellness program to campus community through varied media, such as but not limited to, weekly Wellness Newsletter, Tech Today articles, presentations, and forums.
5. Respond to inquiries from students regarding all student insurance related questions.
6. Coordinate processes and procedures for student health insurance.
7. Serve as liaison between students, student insurance administrators, and health care providers.
8. Coordinate input of student data and enrollment for student health insurance.
9. Reconcile and monitor the student health insurance accounts and track expenses.
10. Coordinate communications to students regarding health insurance and health care issues.
11. Support Senior Benefits Coordinator as liaison for employees, medical plan administrators, and health care providers.
12. Coordinate and process employee education program (EEP) process and Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (TRIP) benefit for employees and dependents
13. Help coordinate and process open enrollment for employees.
14. Conduct benefit and wellness orientations for new employees
15. Coordinate and attend benefit events and student orientations and make presentations when necessary.
16. Responsible for updating policies, forms and website for student health insurance
17. Act as liaison with IT staff to establish, maintain and update student insurance procedures.
18. Serve on committees, as needed.
19. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

• High school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

• Successful, progressively responsible office experience
• Demonstrated experience with wellness programs
• Demonstrated experience with employee benefits
• Demonstrated customer service experience
• Demonstrated experience using personal computers and basic software packages

Desirable Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree

• Experience working with BANNER.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Required Training and Other Conditions of Employment

Every employee at Michigan Technological University will receive the following 3 required trainings; additional training may be required by the department.
