Michigan Technological University’s Information Technology department is seeking applicants for a system administrator focused on research computing infrastructures. Infrastructure will include single and multi-node GPU computer clusters, faculty research desktops, as well as some legacy systems still in production. This critical role will support research computing needs across campus. Research Engineer Advanced Power Systems Research Center (Near Houghton County Airport)
Pursue, plan, organize, and conduct research, and development and testing activities with emphasis on advanced mobility and energy topics. Project applications may include vehicle propulsion systems, vehicle controls, connected and autonomous vehicles, alternative energy, etc. Activities may include experimental, analysis, or simulation tasks. Pending a candidates experience level, participate in competitive technical research grant proposals, technical publications and presentations, guide and train undergrad and graduate students.
Testing Center Manager Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Michigan Tech Testing Center is committed to creating a safe, accommodating, quiet environment where all students can excel. The Testing Center Manager is responsible for the efficient and secure administration of various exams including accommodated course-based exams, make-up exams, placement exams, and sponsored exams. Research Scientist I – Applied Mathematician/Statistician Michigan Tech Research Institute (Ann Arbor, MI)
MTRI (www.mtu.edu/mtri) is seeking highly motivated, intellectually curious, professional statisticians, mathematicians, and engineers interested in developing new tools and applications of statistical signal processing, sequential planning, and optimization. Specifically, this position involves supporting customer-driven research needs from both government and commercial sponsors. The role involves collaboration with senior engineers and scientists to research, design, and evaluate new cutting-edge tools for application to remote sensing. A successful candidate will have a solid background in pure and applied mathematics and/or statistics and a desire to apply theory from these fields to a broad range of remote sensing and sensor modalities. In addition, an ideal candidate would have prior experience writing scientific software to investigate the efficacy of the proposed techniques.

Campus Electrical Engineer Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Overall administration of the campus electrical system, including high and low voltage. Ensure system compliance with NEC and other pertinent code requirements to provide a safe and dependable electrical system for the University. Work with in-house personnel and outside consultants as necessary to coordinate projects, changes, and expansion of the system. Design and manage small electrical projects or coordinate with outside consultants for larger projects to properly modify the existing system as required. Advise and make recommendations to the AVP Facilities Management, the Director of Planning & Construction, the Director of Energy Management, and other members of the University personnel on all aspects of electrical engineering, electrical construction, life safety, and code compliance in pursuit of University objectives.

Assistant Teaching Professor in Accounting Main Campus (Houghton, MI)

The position requires the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting/taxation, as well as maintaining an active research agenda as a scholarly-academic (SA) per AACSB standards. The Center for Technology & Training is seeking a Business/Training Support Specialist to help elevate our trainings (transportation (roads and bridges) and environmental programs) and support our business activities. This position provides a self-motivated candidate with an opportunity to help develop new training materials and bring a fresh outlook to existing training materials. They provide support for events from start to finish – organizing events and working with both internal and external subject matter experts, processing registrations and payments, Zoom management, providing virtual and on-site event support, customer communications, and more. The Business/Training Support Specialist is also a key member of our financial team that reconciles event payments and periodically processes payroll. They will also work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and clients to complete project goals and to ensure that services are consistent with the mission of the center and the university.
