This position will empathetically lead these students through the enrollment process to provide support through every step to ensure the target student populations are more than adequately served. The right candidate will have service at the top of their mind and have the desire to navigate the complexities and intricacies of the application and enrollment process. This individual will work as part of a larger undergraduate recruiting team and will recruit incoming undergraduate students from designated territories. Responsibilities and Essential Duties 1. Serve as the main point of contact for all transfer and international student applicants and pave a clear path for each student to enroll at Michigan Tech.2. Lead and manage all transfer and international admissions applications. 3. Work with internal key stakeholders to ensure the details of the enrollment pipeline are expeditiously handled, including admission application evaluation, transfer credit evaluation, transcript review, and required international forms. Stakeholders include International Program Services, Registrar’s Office, and Financial Aid Office.4. Serve as the admissions DSO (Designated School Official).5. Serve as primary contact for exchange students. 6. Work with students while they are attending other colleges and universities who intend to transfer, providing guidance that ensures the development of a clear plan to facilitate transfer of credits toward their selected degree program. This individual will meet with prospective students (virtual/in-person at partner two-year colleges) to assist them in developing a transfer degree plan and the overall transfer process for seamless transition from their 2 to 4-year degree.7. Perform regular maintenance on the MITransfer Portal, and ensure any pathway agreements are regularly reviewed.8. Be proactive to ensure transfer and international students have everything they need to make a well-informed decision on Michigan Tech, and identify opportunities to further move them through the enrollment process.9. Serve as part of the communications team, developing, reviewing, and executing communications and publications pertaining to transfer and international students.10. Lead campus conversations on new ideas that create a transfer-friendly environment, and serve as a change agent where necessary. 11. Travel to college fairs and college partnership visits as necessary.12. Identify opportunities for partnerships with community colleges and collaborate with the Executive Director of Enrollment Initiatives to develop those partnerships.13. Serve as the key reviewer of all transfer and international applications and serve as needed to complete undergraduate student application reviews. 14. Build relationships with key personnel at community colleges throughout the Midwest through regular visits, calls, and collaboration.15. Participate and travel to transfer college fairs as needed.16. Serve as part of our undergraduate recruiting team and oversee a territory in Northern Wisconsin. Manage that territory by attending college fairs and building relationships with key individuals in those territories through high school visits. 17. Assist with planning and hosting visit events for prospective transfer students. 18. Participate in conferences, workshops, and meetings that provide information or opportunities to assist in improving or increasing the effectiveness of recruitment and enrolling undergraduate students.19. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.20. Actively engage in University improvement initiatives.21. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures Bachelor’s degree Required Experience • 3 years of related work experience in undergraduate admissions, higher education student services, education administration, teaching, or a closely related area• Experience using personal computer and software packages, including advanced features of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint• Excellent attention to detail• Proven ability to solve problems using logic and reasoning Desirable Education and/or Experience • Master’s degree• Graduate of Michigan Technological University and/or affinity and experience with the University• Experience working with transfer and/or international student populations• Experience working within a CRM system• Experience working with academic advisors or other academic constituencies at a University.• Experience recruiting undergraduate students interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs, as well as those interested in undersubscribed programs Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities • Excellent oral and written communication• Demonstrated ability to be highly self-motivated, prioritize multiple tasks in a proactive manner, meet deadlines, and display attention to detail• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff• Demonstrated ability to exude a friendly and warm personality to assist in making visitors feel welcome and valued• Experience giving dynamic and engaging presentations to small and large groups• Excellent computer skills• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends• Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to comply with Michigan Tech’s vehicle use requirements• Ability to use judgment when dealing with confidential information• Demonstrated commitment to contributing to a safe work environment Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities • Knowledge of Michigan Tech, Houghton, and the surrounding area• Ability to analyze data to drive recruitment strategy• Demonstrated knowledge of secondary school and community college educational systems• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students, parents, staff, and academic advisors• Demonstrated knowledge of the admissions application process• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders Work Environment and/or Physical Demands WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
