Job Description Summary We seek applicants for a Postdoctoral Associate position to perform experiments related to central mechanisms underlying salt sensitive hypertension development. The project is funded by a NIHR01 grant. The work responsibility is to conduct research related to the central nervous system in blood pressure regulation and in gene modifications leading to neuro-cardiovascular deregulation. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) Generate hypothesis, design experiments, and test the hypothesisUse appropriate software to analyze the resultsPerform animal surgeryMeasure rat blood pressure and other cardiovascular functionPerform animal study such as metabolism studyWithdraw blood and collect animal tissuesTrain graduate and undergraduate studentsAttend lab meetings and journal clubPresent research results at scientific conferencesWrite research papers and publish in peer-reviewed journalsCommit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday workApply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements) Ph.D. degree in molecular biology or Physiology or associated area earned within the last 72 months (six years). Required Experience (minimum requirements) Research experience in molecular biology.Research experience using rat or mice models Desirable Education and/or Experience Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements) Have molecular biology and physiology background. Familiar with brain study using rodent models. The applicants should be equipped with cellular and Molecular Biology techniques such as cell culture, real-time PCR, western blot, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, etc.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.Demonstrated commitment to contribute to a safe work environment.
