Job Description Summary

Responsible for daily receipt and deposit of amounts received for the Michigan Tech Fund, provide support for various FSO functions, coordination of office activities, and support for Director, Michigan Tech Fund Accounting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Process and deposit gifts (checks, credit cards, cash, electronic transfers) and other amounts received for the Michigan Tech Fund on a daily basis.
2. Prepare and post journal entries.
3. Receive and route telephone calls to the appropriate person.
4. Work with various FSO staff to support continuity in functions of the department.
5. Prepare letters to donors for various gift requirements.
6. Assist Director with special projects and audit preparation tasks.
7. Prepare check requests for Michigan Tech Fund expenditures, maintain files and obtain the cash surrender value for life insurance accounts.
8. Scanning items into Perceptive Content for Michigan Tech Fund.
9. Maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment and communicate with various vendors for the Michigan Tech Fund and FSO.
10. Coordinate general office activities.
11. Other duties as assigned.
12. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

• High school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

• Three years progressive experience in secretarial or administrative support.
• Three years experience using personal computers and basic software packages, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, and database software.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

• Prior experience working at a non-profit or governmental entity.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish acts, and draw valid conclusions.

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands

The work environment is that of a typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Required Training and Other Conditions of Employment

Every employee at Michigan Technological University will receive the following 4 required trainings; additional training may be required by the department.

Required University Training:
