Job Description Summary

A postdoctoral position is available in Victor Busov’s lab at Michigan Technological University, College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science. The successful candidate will work on a project investigating the role of Rop GTPases in regulation of nitrogen use efficiency and TOR (target of rapamycin) kinase signaling in poplar.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

Investigating the role of Rop GTPases in regulation of nitrogen use efficiency and TOR kinase signaling in poplar.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

Ph.D. in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field.  (Doctoral degree must have been earned within 72 months prior to the beginning of the appointment. Exceptions may be granted with extenuating circumstances.)

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

Good foundational knowledge and experience in studying signaling mechanisms in plants and the respective techniques and experimental approaches.

Hands-on experience with CRISPR/Cas9 and Western blot analyses.

Experience in other molecular, genomics, physiological and biochemical techniques enabling mechanistic insights into the processes.

Excellent oral and written communications skills particularly demonstrated through publication in the peer review literature and presentations on international forums.

The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

The position is for 3 years, starting July 2022, it may be renewed on an annual basis pending satisfactory performance. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
