Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) The successful candidate will collaboratively develop and teach undergraduate classes and laboratories, create innovative instructional materials and project-based experiences, integrate projects and work practices from industry, contribute to program assessment and accreditation activities, student advising, and departmental/college service. This candidate will be responsible for recruiting, facilitating student experience, developing and maintaining a program culture to support retention, and providing leadership for the program with increasing responsibilities over time. Employees are expected to apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work and to commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements) To be considered for a Professor of Practice position, the applicant must hold an MS in Construction Management, an MS in a closely related engineering field or an MBA, and an undergraduate degree in Construction Management or a related engineering field. Required Experience (minimum requirements) Evidence of a minimum of five years of varied relevant experience with progressing responsibility in the North American construction industry is required. Experience with the construction industry’s business practices should include some of the following; risk management; finance; contract negotiations; project management; accounting. or at a minimum an understanding of the previously listed topics. Desirable Education and/or Experience Additional experience in the construction industry is strongly preferred. Demonstrated effective and engaging teaching experiences at a university level and a familiarity with the ACCE accreditation process are highly desired. A Ph.D. in a Business Administration related field or Engineering would also be beneficial. Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements) Ability to draw from relevant construction management experiences and teach a variety of construction management courses. Versatility and technical expertise to teach fundamental courses such as Construction Finance and Accounting, Construction Contracts, Construction Project Management. Strong oral and written communication, computer, and presentation skills. Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Appropriate professional registrations in one or more areas such as AIC; CCM; CFM; CMAA; PMI; etc. Language, Mathematics and/or Reasoning Skills Work Environment and/or Physical Demands The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
