Job Description Summary

Provide excellent customer service to a wide variety of customers through research to identify and resolve issues surrounding employee payroll. Review and analyze data prior to entry into the human resource / payroll systems for accuracy. obtain knowledge of the multi time entry processes and systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Greet and assist customers in a friendly, courteous manner.
2. Receive, screen, and route telephone calls.
3. Independently research and resolve problems associated with payroll and time entry issues.
4. Enter, maintain, and retrieve data from the payroll/personnel and time clock systems.
5. Enter invoices for garnishments.
6. Review overtime report to calculate and enter appropriate overtime on the employee time record.
7. Biweekly data entry for multiple processes including: time sheets, direct deposits, several deductions (taxes, meals, cell phone, parking, etc.).
8. Print time sheets and payroll checks, sort, and mail.
9. Review the daily activity of BANWEB user activity for accuracy into the payroll system.
10. Biweekly review for accuracy payroll labor expenditures and process payroll reallocations.
11. Obtain knowledge of the business operations for the Human Resources office to respond to inquiries and provide information for routine and non-routine requests for information established programs or services.
12. Maintain confidential information including social security identification.
13. Performa clerical functions such as typing, filing, maintaining records, and distributing data.
14. Maintain knowledge of current federal an state tax laws.
15. Know and use advanced features of departmental software; created database/spreadsheet files to organize and maintain data.
16. Receive, open, and route mail.
17. Daily review and respond to departmental payroll email address.
18. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
19. Integrate safety practices into daily activities.
20. Assist with special projects, often requiring data entry.
21. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

• High school diploma or an equivalent

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

• Three years office/clerical experience.
• Three years of experience using advanced features of word processing and spreadsheet/database software.
• Two years of computer data entry experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems in standardized situations.
